Brian Austin joins the HuntLeague Podcast. Brian is the founder of Beast Mode Archery Challenge (BMAC) where archery, fitness, and bowhunting intersect. Brian has combined his life long passion for bowhunting with over 20 years of fitness training and coaching to create some of the most dynamic archery events in the country.

2023 Outdoorsman of the Year - Finalist Wally King

Wally King is no stranger to league finals at this point.  In 2023 he was nominated as a finalists in the Western Hunter, Sweet September, and now for the Outdoorsman of the Year title.  Although the crown has been elusive he has proven himself inside the HuntLeague community as a trusted voice and leader.
Wally is known as "ocdhunter" in the app.  He is a planner, methodical, and a constant student of the game whether that be reading, listening to podcasts, e-scouting, drumming up new recipes with parts of the animal most hunters leave in the field, or picking up a new method of take.  Wally found success this year in the field harvesting his first cow elk with a bow but he would say the highlight of his season was being with his son when he harvested his first pronghorn.

2023 Outdoorsman of the Year - Finalist Cody Paratore

Cody Paratore for the second year in a row returns to the finals competing for the 2023 HuntLeague Outdoorsman of the Year title.  This year we added a new wrinkle to the competition by having our former Outdoorsman of the Year champions select the finalists from our pool of candidates. 
Many people know Cody from last year's finals but he also won the On Point Experience league this year and was able to go on his first bear hunt with legendary bear hunter Garrett Weaver, Kolby Morehead from Bear Hunting Magazine, former Navy SEAL sniper and Vortex team member Nick Blough, Auburn and Brad from HUXWRX, Bradley Joyce from Wild Food Outdoors, and Jared Newman from HuntLeague.  It was the trip of a lifetime that ended up being only a small part of Cody's incredible season.

2023 Outdoorsman of the Year Finalist - Joshua Katanik

Joshua Katanik was one of three finalists selected for the 2023 HuntLeague Outdoorsman of the Year.  This year we added a new wrinkle to the competition by having our former Outdoorsman of the Year champions select the finalists from our pool of candidates.
Some of you may have already been introduced to Joshua late last year as he was a newcomer in the app but was able to finish on top of the Sweet September (archery elk) league.  In addition to his fantastic elk season, Joshua hunted over 10 different species and found success in the field this year chasing spring bear & turkey, an Idaho wolf, pheasant, quail, waterfowl, deer, and more.

Chadd Torres HuntLeague Member and Competitive Shooter - Intro to Matches

In 2024, HuntLeague is inviting the community to meet up and compete in person at multiple events across the country.  Starting March 23rd we have the Accufire Team Sniper Match in Jacksboro, TX.  Jared reached out to HuntLeague member and competitive shooter Chadd Torres (Stag Arms & Vortex Optics) for input on preparing for his first match.  
Chadd has several years of match shooting experience and is still a student of the game.  Although he has never shot this particular flavor of match he had a lot of great input into the process.  With people traveling from around the country to participate it is important to make sure you come prepared with the proper gear and understand the rules of the game.  
Whether you are shooting pro or just getting started you are invited to participate in the Accufire Team Sniper Match along with Jared Newman, Josh Greer (Arken Optics), and others from the HuntLeague community.

Wally King is once again a league finalist sharing the story of his 2023 archery elk season.  We dive into preseason preparation, the hunt, prioritizing family, and time in the kitchen.

Meet James Mansanti - Finalist for the 2023 Sweet September Archery Elk League

James Mansanti hunted 20 consecutive days on the Oregon coast chasing roosevelt elk.  This is a story about perseverance and adjusting to plan B after fires forced him out of his home turf.  
James is one of three finalists in the hunt for the first ever "Sweet September" league title.  This is a league inside the HuntLeague app specifically for archery elk hunters, arguably the most obsessed and insane hunters on the planet.

Josh Katanik’s 2023 DIY WY Archery Elk Hunt

Josh Katanik "JBMAK" from Northern Idaho shares the story of his 2023 archery elk hunt.  He set out on a 16 day hunting trip with three other buddies.  They each burned several points and took time away from work and their families to make this trip happen.  The trip was filled with ups and downs.  There is a lot to learn from their experience including some bonus content about a delicious piece of meat that can often be overlooked when butchering your elk.
